Who am I? 24601... (from Les Miserables)
Hi folks,
People go on about identity a great deal in the woes of becoming a deafie after a life of having hearing, its a struggle to find some peace and get comfortable not only with yourself but with the attitudes of others around you, including friends and family and most of all with the people you work with..
The answer is a simple one and its keeping hold of the identity you have, its how you feel and not how others see you, its "I'm deaf...get over it"
Processing is difficult "deafnotstupid", I'd get rid of that its a negative..start a new life with a positive mind..you are not alone and you are doing the right thing by sharing your journey here!
Understanding what we hear and processing it into sense is a difficult thing, most of it we have learned over many years and still make the mistakes..from time to time! its sometimes has its funny moments and also has its embarrassments, we develop a thick skin.
Being or trying to be positive is a great thing and for young uns like Omega its a great start to a positive future, having a personal identity helps you a long way..Tishcat will agree that we identify each other as the same species if you like no matter what branch of deafidom, you are you are a deafie and accepted..but first accept yourself...and kick [Beep] the rest.
Come over to the Facebook page too if you like as Tishcat says https://www.facebook...ookmark_t=group
and...Welcome
