Just rented the Region 1 version of "Apocalypto," released by Buena Vista. To my surprise, the DVD has subtitles not only for the movie (a given, since the dialogue's entirely in Mayan), but also for the bonus documentary, the deleted scene, and, yes, even for the director commentary!

:clapping:

This was unexpected. And very much a good thing. I hope to see this on more DVDs from Buena Vista!

I thought most Disney/Buena Vista R1 releases had the extra features subtitled? I thought it was only UK R2 releases which didnt have subtitles on the extras?

Cheers,
Mat

Nope, they had a pretty bad record here in Region 1 as well. The only Buena Vista DVDs I'd seen before this month with subtitled extras were of Pixar's movies.

And it looks like this may be a continuing trend. I've seen reviews confirming that the US releases of The Queen and series 5 of Scrubs, both released by Buena Vista, also contain subtitled extras.

I joined for deaf4life, I wanted to tell you, this closed-captioning began April 24, 2007 since
Deja Vu along with The Queen. Also, without closed-captioned only SDH was began
on bonus features for The Prestige by February 20, 2007. But, it would been possibly last official release is... Peter Pan: Platinum Edition released on March 6, 2007 without closed-captioned or subtitled on these bonus features.

Now, I would be saying about bonus features for Disney:
Dinosaurs: The Complete Third And Fourth Seasons have subtitled on audio commentaries; closed-captioned/subtitled on easter eggs; featurette; creatures with a cause: The issues of Dinosaurs -- Go Behind the scenes with the creators and learn the secrets of the controversial last episode!. I am looking forward to rent from Netflix.com for
the DVD for Home Improvement 6th Season, when I get it, I will review it sooner to the public on Deaf4Life. smile.gif
