What does everyone think of the Premier League's proposal to play an 'international round' of fixtures abroad?
Personally, I'm against it, because it would reduce the traditional 'fairness' of the league based around everyone playing each other twice. Imagine if a smaller club got relegated by a point because they 'only' drew with Manchester United in Beijing in their 'extra' match, whilst their relegation rivals were thrashing Derby in Dubai.
It would also increase fixture congestion (especially with player jet lag), widen the gap between the Premier League and the Football League, and make it difficult for life-long English fans to see their teams play in person.
Once the principle is introduced, it won't stop at just one game, but would probably be the thin end of the wedge, as it would most likely be followed by a '40th game' and then a '41st game' to increase revenues further. I already think there are too many games as it is, and would prefer to scrap the League Cup instead (or simply exclude Premier League clubs).
