The new site went online today. It takes time for DNS to propagate, so some people may not be able to see it just yet.

Please note that not all the functionality is active yet - eg. the top 50 pages etc. These pages are deemed non-essential for launch, but I will be getting them back up as soon as I can.

As you'll see, the site design and functionality remains pretty much unchanged (a bit sharper looking perhaps), however the structure underneath is radically different. I am hoping to have a completely new design sometime later this year, depending on cost. It will be much easier to update this site with a new design than the old one.

The biggest issue addressed by the site rebuild is the automated update system - the previous system was manual and far too tedious - with the result that the site often fell way out of date as I couldn't find the time to update it (as some of you noticed!). This is now resolved - the site runs on a dedicated server which automatically downloads DVD data and pricing data on a daily basis. Thus the site should always be completely up to date - although I will be keeping a close eye on the import system for teething problems.

Hope you can all navigate the site ok, and please do let me know how you get on with it and let me know asap if anything is not worked as you would expect!

Oh, and before I forget, you may notice that the DVD cover images are rather slow to load. This is because they're on a remote server. I am planning to implement a caching system so that the images are stored on the dvd-subtitles.com server which should make them much faster. Again, not essential for launch but will be done at some point.
