Hi, I'm 33 and from Rotherham. I've had hearings aids for about 13 years and have had some more hearing loss so waiting for some new hearing aids. As it now looks like my hearing loss is severe, I'm thinking about learning BSL. Any advice on types of courses / books etc would be much appreciated. smile.gif

Hi

Welcome to deaf4life forum.

I know few people who live in Rotherham, mexborough, edlington and doncaster. I have fall out with some of them cos of rumours gossip. a word of warning if u want to involved with them all due to deaf clubs etc. be careful. someone from edlington really hurt me big time! i m glad to be back home to the south now but still visit up north from time to time!

Doncaster college for the deaf have sign language courses during the week/wkend etc and possibly your local college as well, as well what jay said.

Thanks for the advice Jay and Plummy. I don't know of any deaf clubs locally, but I suppose to learn sign and to practise it may be a good idea?

Thanks
Tony

I found this:

Rotherham Deaf Club
23 North Road, East Dene, Rotherham. S65 2RR

Worth a visit? It doesn't have any dates or opening hours, but maybe you could go & see the building, hopefully there will be a notice board or something?
