If you don't know what I am talking about? Then let me explain, Roseanne tv series is about an late 80s american family struggled on borderline income but the drama is about comedy and a mother keep the whole thing funny despite the issues such as homosexuality, abortion, money and etc.

Move "what is it" along, I have Roseanne DVD serie 1,2 and 3. They have subtitles so I also found more series 4 to 9 on the play.com site but not sure that they have subtitles. Can you let know to see they have it? I think roseanne tv series were made in 1987 to 1996.

Hello,

Unfortunately we don't have any subtitling information on series 4 to 9, no-one has contributed it on the site yet. However, all these are released by the same studio (Anchor Bay) and if the first 2 series are subtitled it is highly likely the later ones are as well.

I suggest you go to the usual hgh street stores and find the DVDs there and look on the back of the boxes for subtitling information.

If you do manage to find out for sure if these are subtitled, please let us know.

Many thanks,

Mat

Ok I will let you know, however I did deep-searching in the net and found that only series 4-8 except 9 is available in the high street stores. Series 9 is going to scheduling for release in mid November. I am happy to say that the complete set of Roseanne tv series are released soon as well.

Anyway, for subtitling information matters, I have sent an email to anchor bay entertainment for further details and will expect to hear from them soon.

Regards

EDIT: I have recieved an response from anchor bay entertainment that the whole series does have subtitles. Great news! I can buy DVD from online shopping because I couldn't find any where on the high street. Thank!
Tony
Great news, it's good to see that they're providing subtitles for the whole series!

I have been conned! The promise that series 4,5 & 6 had subtitles on it but I have checked it out. It doesn't existed at all. I am going to email for anchor entertainment that Ive been misleading. Grr ;(
Tony
Oh no. sad.gif I wonder if they've missed something. Do let us know what they say!

I got an email from it that the subtitles for the whole series only work on region 1, not 2. Oh well. Only Roseanne series 1 to 3 does have subtitles except 4-9 on region 2. There you are.
Tony
Well, that's sucky! I hope they will reconsider it in the future.

Unfortunately this is typical of studios' claims. They don't actually keep any records of what they've subtitled. Generally they all have a policy of adding English subtitles, and depending on how well managed & organised they are with getting the subtitling materials together on time, only a percentage of releases actually get subtitled, and there's no record of it unless you manage to get hold of someone who remembers what happened with that particular release.

As a result, if you contact them they'll just repeat their policy and assume they've subtitled it. It's a question of getting someone on their "shop floor" to physically check a DVD - and it is practically impossible to persuade them to do this.

Cheers,

Mat

matt, I aware of that but the shop motto is "the customer is alway right"

I understand what you are trying to say, so I just did sent a email to anchor entertainment because they were produced these drama in the America and the response were very helpful. I thought that some DVDs does have subtitles or close-captioned. Very different operations there.

Now the matter is closed and I will try my best to lipread on the rest of series without subtitles that I just recently brought it.
