I just discovered, while browsing through some reviews, that the Region 2 and 4 DVDs for 'House, MD' aren't subtitled at all (!). So on a whim, I looked on Tesco.com, which has scans of the backs of the DVD cases-- and though it can barely be made out, that does indeed look like 'Subtitle Tracks: None'. And to further corroborate this, someone mentioned this fact on the 'Speak Your Mind' page.

As someone living on the western side of the pond, I highly recommend importing the R1 version if you like the show. It's most definitely subtitled (the box says 'captions', but that's just the term Universal used for SDH up until last autumn), and very well, at that.

Other comments on 'Speak Your Mind' page mention the most recent releases of 'Columbo' and 'Monk' lacking subtitles in Region 2. They're also from Universal-- and much like 'House', they're subtitled in the US releases.

I am really annoyed about this especially HMV are selling it for £17.99 online! However I have heard Region 1 picture is really quite bad. So I am gonna wait till a better version comes out.

I like House MD very much, unfortunately I discovered after buying the region 2 version of season 1 from Amazon UK.
My questions are:
  1. What sense does it make to eliminate subtitles already existing in region1
  2. can I find season one for region 2 with subtitles?
  3. Do you know when season 2 will be avilable and if it does include subtitles?
  4. Can we do something to complain to FOX about subtitles?
  5. Is not Amazon UK aware of this problems?
Sorry to bother you so much but it cost a lot to buy a series, information is limited and 50% of the fun is gone when you have hearing problems and you are not born to the English language

    All best
