My second post – albeit a more negative one than my first sad.gif – to put Optimum Releasing, a small DVD company that does big releases such as Pan's Labyrinth and The Host, on the named and shamed list.

Ever since the dawn of time of DVD, Highlander, one of my all-time favourities, has never ever been subtitled (Ok, it was on TV with 888 subtitles...) and when I heard that Optimum was releasing a special Immortal Edition of that film, I didn't hold my breath for it to be subtitled. And I was right.

Not again, not another company!

I emailed Optimum crying my guts out at them and they replied that they do not subtitle ANY of their titles due to cost reasons, but said they were "working on it...". I replied bluntly pointing out that they were spending lots of money on remastering and remixing the films, so adding subtitles wouldn't have hurt a lot. Also pointed them to this DVD-subtitles.com website.

Unsurprisingly, I got no reply. sad.gif

Check out their Optimum Releasing website to check out what we're missing out! You can email them to vent your rage, the more of you do this, the quicker they move to include subtitles in future releases, I hope.

I'm going to have to become immortal if I'm going to wait for Highlahder DVD to eventually have subtitles by any chance! smile.gif

I have been in touch with them before and they basically said it will be looked into.

Yes, that said that too, but it would have been nice if they had done that sooner before the Highlander release, so hopefully the next re-release would be subtitled.
